Nika Zupančič
She was born in Ljubljana in 1978. She graduated in Painting in 2003, and with an MA in 2008 in Painting and Printmaking from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana (mentor throughout: Prof. Bojan Gorenec).
She received the Student Prešeren Award twice. Scholarships awarded by Slovenian and international public bodies enabled Nika to further her studies at a number of professional workshops.
She has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Slovenia and internationally, and has received prizes and accolades for her work. Her paintings are included in several art collections, including the Albertina Modern in Vienna. Also, the gallerist, René Block, selected her works for Arter, a contemporary art museum in Istanbul.
She is an Assistant Professor of Painting (2020, Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana) and since 2021 she has been an external professional associate at the Department of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Education, University of Maribor.
